Agent Cursors
An overlay of cursors that glide to where each agent is working, with its name, colour and what it is doing. Labels can be buttons. Screen readers get a short list of who is there and what they are doing.
The decision inside it
A list for screen readers, not coordinates
Cursor positions mean nothing read aloud, so assistive tech hears each agent's name and action once, and the moving cursors are hidden from it.
When to use it
Use Agent Cursors when agents edit a shared document, canvas or table and people should see where each one is working. Put it inside the positioned element the agents work in and pass pixel positions. For a log of what agents did, use Agent Timeline.
Installation
How you get it
Paste this into Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or any coding agent. It installs the file and uses it as it is, instead of writing a new one.
Use Layro's Agent Cursors for this.
Install it: npx shadcn@latest add @layro/agent-cursors
(the @layro registry is set up in components.json, with LAYRO_KEY in .env.local)
Import it from @/components/ui/agent-cursors.
Do not rewrite or restyle it. Pass my data through its props
and keep its built-in states.For the full brief with every prop and the mistakes assistants usually make, use Copy prompt above. Pro components install through the @layro registry with your CLI token: see the Namespaced tab.
Usage
"use client";
import * as React from "react";
import { AgentCursors, type AgentCursor } from "@/components/ui/agent-cursors";
export function AgentPresence({ cursors, children }: { cursors: AgentCursor[]; children: React.ReactNode }) {
const box = React.useRef<HTMLDivElement>(null);
return (
<div ref={box} className="relative">
{children}
<AgentCursors containerRef={box} cursors={cursors} />
</div>
);

Props
Read from the component’s own TypeScript interface when the site is built, so this table cannot drift from the file you install.
| Prop | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|
cursorsrequired | AgentCursor[] | — |
containerRef | React.RefObject<HTMLElement | null> | The element they work in, used to keep cursors inside it. Optional: the overlay fills its positioned parent. |
showLabels | boolean | Name tags beside the tiles. Default true. |
smoothing | number | 0 snaps, 1 drifts slowly. Default 0.5. |
onCursorClick | (id: string) => void | Makes each label a button; called with the agent's id. |
