Timeline
A changelog, a contract's history or a roadmap as an ordered list with real <time> dates. Dates in a column, above each entry, or entries either side of a centre line; tones and icons on the dots; sticky dates for long entries.
The decision inside it
The beam is your scroll, not a timer
It is exactly as far down as you have read. It is decoration, hidden from screen readers, and drawn full with reduced motion.
When to use it
Use Timeline for events in order with dates: a contract's history, a changelog, a company story. compact suits a sidebar; alternate suits a page. For steps someone still has to finish, use a stepper.
Installation
How you get it
Paste this into Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or any coding agent. It installs the file and uses it as it is, instead of writing a new one.
Use Layro's Timeline for this.
Install it: npx shadcn@latest add @layro/timeline
(the @layro registry is set up in components.json, with LAYRO_KEY in .env.local)
Import it from @/components/ui/timeline.
Do not rewrite or restyle it. Pass my data through its props
and keep its built-in states.For the full brief with every prop and the mistakes assistants usually make, use Copy prompt above. Free components install through the @layro registry with your CLI token: see the Namespaced tab.
Usage
import { Timeline } from "@/components/ui/timeline";
export function ContractHistory() {
return (
<Timeline
variant="compact"
items={[
{ id: "1", date: "Mar 3", title: "Sent to Vertically" },
{ id: "2", date: "Mar 4", title: "Viewed by Olivia Martinez" },
{ id: "3", date: "Mar 4", title: "Signed", tone: "success" },
]}
/>
);
