Morph Button
The button's own surface stretches into the panel and back, floating over what is around it so the page never moves. Focus goes in on open and back to the button on close; a bar is a toolbar with arrow keys.
The decision inside it
One surface, not a popover
The button becomes the panel, so the eye follows one shape and there is nothing to position beside it.
When to use it
Use Morph Button for a small, quick task that should open from the button itself: share, invite, quick add, or a bar of a few actions. For anything longer, use a Dialog or Popover.
Installation
How you get it
Paste this into Claude Code, Cursor, Codex or any coding agent. It installs the file and uses it as it is, instead of writing a new one.
Use Layro's Morph Button for this.
Install it: npx shadcn@latest add @layro/morph-button
(the @layro registry is set up in components.json, with LAYRO_KEY in .env.local)
Import it from @/components/ui/morph-button.
Do not rewrite or restyle it. Pass my data through its props
and keep its built-in states.For the full brief with every prop and the mistakes assistants usually make, use Copy prompt above. Pro components install through the @layro registry with your CLI token: see the Namespaced tab.
Usage
import { Share2 } from "lucide-react";
import { MorphButton } from "@/components/ui/morph-button";
export function ShareButton({ copy }: { copy: () => void }) {
return (
<MorphButton label="Share" width={300} align="end" trigger={<><Share2 className="size-4" /> Share</>}>
<button type="button" onClick={copy}>Copy link</button>
</MorphButton>
);

Props
Read from the component’s own TypeScript interface when the site is built, so this table cannot drift from the file you install.
| Prop | Type | Notes |
|---|---|---|
triggerrequired | React.ReactNode | What the closed button shows: a word, an icon, or both. |
childrenrequired | React.ReactNode | The open panel or bar. |
labelrequired | string | The open surface's name for screen readers, and the trigger's when it is only an icon. |
open | boolean | — |
defaultOpen | boolean | — |
onOpenChange | (open: boolean) => void | — |
expandTo | "panel" | "bar" | A panel for content, or a bar of actions. Default "panel". |
width | number | Width when open, in pixels. Default 320 for a panel; a bar sizes to its buttons. |
align | "start" | "end" | Which edge it grows from. Default "start". |
